What the token budget means.
The plan with AI included comes with a monthly budget of tokens: the units AI models are paid in.
The monthly budget in plain words: about how many working days of normal use it covers.
- The app shows what is left at the top of the window, and what each agent uses while it runs.
- You set a daily limit and limits per task.
- When the budget runs out, work stops there. Ethlin asks before it moves anything to another account you have connected.

- A key or a local model runs on the Ethlin Engine, Ethlin's own agent runtime. It runs the assistant and the agents alike.
- Keys from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini or OpenRouter work, and so does any OpenAI-compatible server, including Ollama and LM Studio on your own computer.
- Claude is connected with an API key from Anthropic. Ethlin does not use a Claude subscription for this plan.
- "Automatic" picks a model for each job from what you have connected. You can limit it to some companies, or to local models only.
- Your keys are kept in your system's keychain, not in Ethlin's files.

What happens when the token budget is used up?
Usage stops at your budget, so there is no surprise bill. Top-ups: Kenan, Fabian If you have connected your own key, Ethlin asks before it moves work there.
Do I need a subscription with an AI company?
Not for the plan with AI included. For the plan with your own key, you need an API key from a provider, or a local model on your computer.

Why do the prices include VAT?
Every price on this page is the price you pay, including 19% German VAT. The smaller figure under each price is the amount without VAT.
